Thank you all for such patience this month < 3 Ceci and I had the best time at the Hardcore Art Book Fair in CDMX this past week, spreading the word about GUNK in NYC and a special edition of GUNK CDMX, curated by our friends who live in CDMX and regulate the scene.
We ran out of CDMX GUNK on our trip, but we have plenty of NYC x CDMX Crossover GUNK that has just been printed and collated and is ready to pick up! you can get your fix at your usual spots or at Secret Riso Club in Bushwick. Tell us about your new album! Itās the first music youāre releasing since Rotos (2018), how has the project evolved these past seven years and where does it meet the listeners now?
Itās been a long time - weāve definitely changed a lot, and that shows in the bandās sound. Weāre very excited for this to happen again. Itās an album with 8 songs that will be released in a very special wayā¦which we canāt reveal just yet.š¤«š¤«
What is the songwriting process for Young Tender?
We start by choosing the main concept of the song, it generally begins with words, some situation we want to tell, a scene or some emotion, from there everything starts. We like to focus mainly on songwriting, it is what we struggle with the most, also, when we already have a clear idea of āāwhat we are going to talk about, the rest is quite simple, composing the music, arrangements melodies etc.
Whatās your favorite show youāve ever played in Mexico City? Why?
Weāve had many memorable shows - no doubt each of the band members could name a different one. For me, it was a show we played at a book fair in Mexico City. It was a free afternoon show, and the crowd was definitely a mix of people who already knew the project and many who were hearing us for the first time. It was interesting to see the reaction of those who had no idea who we were or what genre we played. Connecting with those people was truly invaluable.
How has your city informed your music or the way you record/play?
The time when we started the project, we were in the middle of a wave of violence in our city. We had no choice but to lock ourselves in and play. At the moment, it didnāt seem like things would ever return to normal. I believe that situation definitely influenced the bandās sound, as well as the way we recorded and played.

What 3 words would you use to describe your local music scene?
Demanding, Reactive, Party-loving

CuĆ©ntennos sobre su nuevo Ć”lbum. Es lo primero que lanzan desde Rotos (2018). ĀæCĆ³mo ha evolucionado el proyecto en estos Ćŗltimos siete aƱos y en quĆ© lugar se encuentra ahora con quienes lo escuchan?
Ha pasado mucho tiempo, sin duda hemos cambiado mucho y eso se nota en el sonido de la banda, estamos muy emocionados de que esto vuelva a suceder, un disco que cuenta con 8 canciones , que sera lanzado de una forma muy especial que no podemos revelar š¤«š¤«
ĀæCuĆ”l es el proceso de songwriting de Young Tender?
Comenzamos por elegir el concepto principal de la cancion, generalmente inicia con palabras, alguna situaciĆ³n que queramos contar, una escena o alguna emocion, de ahi parte todo, nos gusta enfocarnos en el songwriting principalmente, es en lo que mas batallamos , tambien, cuando ya tenemos una idea clara de lo que vamos a hablar lo demĆ”s es bastante sencillo, componer la musica, arreglos melodias etc.
ĀæCuĆ”l ha sido su show favorito que han dado en Ciudad de MĆ©xico? Por quĆ©?
Hemos tenidos muchos shows memorables, sin duda cada uno de los integrantes te podrian mencionar alguno, para mi fue un show que tuvimos en una feria del libro en CDMX, fue un show gratis , en la tarde, sin duda el publico fue una mezcla entre gente que conocia el proyecto y mucha gente que nos escucho por primera vez , fue interesante ver la reacciĆ³n de esas personss que no tenian la mas minima idea de quienes eramos y que genero tocabamos, el acercamiento con esas personas fue algo invaluable š«¶š¼
ĀæCĆ³mo ha influido su ciudad en su mĆŗsica o en la forma en que graban y tocan?
La epoca en donde iniciamos con el proyecto , estabamos en medio de una ola de violencia en nuestra ciudad, no teniamos de otra mas que encerrarnos a tocar, en ese momento no se veia que algun dia pudiera regresar todo a la normalidad, pienso que esa situaciĆ³n definitivamente influyo en el sonido de la banda,la forma en la que grabamos y tocamos

Ceci and I released an album today, our second for our band Sister., titled Two Birds. It is about friendship and separation and identity and we are so proud of it <3 feel free to give that a listen too, there is a special song from the record on the playlist.

The new Sister. album is gorgeous! Likely to miss the festivities in August as my daughter is going to Graduate school in Syracuse and moves in on 8/15.
